Young women of Yangshuo ????

Strange question...I'm internet dating a lovely woman from Changsha, maybe will someday be my wife??? She was going to meet me in Yangshuo, but then she didn't want to. She said that her Chinese friend went there with her Spanish husband but many young Chinese women would try to start conversations with him, even while she was there. It made her feel very uncomfortable, probably made him feel uncomfortable also. Now my friend doesn't want to go with me. In the sceme of things, it's not very important, but what's that about. Are these prostitutes, or just young women up to mischief.

I come now more around 15 years in Yangshuo. I know plenty of people in town and most people are genuinely nice and friendly people.

If your penpal sounds genuine, go there and figure it out. Yangshuo is not Bangkok but for some girls a westerner is a way out of the poverty they may live in. There are many girls in Yangshuo married with foreigners and the ones I know are all married out of love. But the best advice is simply go to Yangshuo, enjoy yourself there and find out if this girl is genuine or not.

 Getting to know the girls as pen friends

Hi, I recently stumbled upon a girl who started chatting via email with me from her real workplace as part of my industry, she told me she lives in Yangshuo/ she appears to sound very nice, and wants to be pen friends?/internet?
I have looked up the region/country side and it looks stunning and I one day would like to go thr. I have read some of the comments about pro's, but I'm sure this girl sounds quite genuine about herself. I hope it is not a horrible place of sin like Bangkok??? Please advise? Artistic

I have been to West Street many times and often young girls approach me. In every case, they are students wanting to practice their English. I have never been approached by a prostitute. My Chinese wife has no problem with Yangshuo.

I have been in Yangshuo for many years. Like everywhere else you can find prostitutes but those who talk to you are usually local guides trying to sell you a tour.

It is also true that a lot of foreigners who come to Yangshuo and stay there hook up with a local girl. To my knowlegde none is a prostitute but it is true that some try to hook up with a foreigner to escape China. It happens here, it happens everywhere.
