Yangshuo River cruises

There are 3 different Yangshuo river cruises to do on the Li River. Let's see what we recommend. The most popular is without a doubt the Guilin Yangshuo cruise but this is not the only one.

• Yangshuo - Puyi river cruise

Guilin - Yangshuo river cruise

The river cruise from Guilin starts not in Guilin itself but at the Zhujiang wharf, which is a 40 minutes drive south of Guilin city center. Here you will board one of the many cruise ships.

The Guilin Yangshuo river cruise

Boats depart at 9:30am, it takes 4 to 5 hours on for the cruise which include lunch on the boat. you will arrive at Yangshuo wharf around 1:30pm. The closer you come to Xingping and later to Yangshuo the more spectacular the scenery becomes.

During high season it can be very busy on the river. It's why we recommend the Yangdi - Xingping river cruise.

Early morning at the Li River from Yangdi to Xingping

Yangdi - Xingping river cruise

The Yangdi - Xingping river cruise does partly the same part of the Li river as the Guilin -  Yangshuo cruise boats do. The difference is that you leave in the very early morning before the cruise boats come in. There's then a good change you have the whole river for yourself.

Our tours include a half day boat cruise starting at 6AM with a taxi ride to Yangdi where you board a small boat. Apart of some fishermen and farmers you will see no one either on the water or on land.

Close to Xingping at the Li River

The boat rides takes about an hour and a half. In this time you will see slowly the early morning mist moving for the light of day. Buffaloes may have a bath, fishermen catch their fish for the day and you drift to Xingping.

Yangshuo - Puyi river cruise

The Li river from Yangshuo to Puyi is largely unexplored by most travelers. Still, this part of the Li River has much to offer, from spectacular sceneries to villages worth to explore.

Although you can get a motor raft in Yangshuo, these rafts will never go as far as Puyi. The rafts going that far will only leave from Mushan jetty. And in Yangshuo there are no boats doing this trip.

Thus you have to take a taxi (or cycle) to Mushan and board here. You have to arrange in advance as there are seldom motor rafts or boats immediately available. The trip can take a few hours and it is worth to get off the boat or raft to explore some places along the way.
