Traditional Chinese Massage in Yangshuo
Doctor Lily's famous health improvements
How about a massage after a day on the bicycle in the Yangshuo
Guilin area? A Traditional Chinese massage in Yangshuo is a unique
opportunity to experience the ancient tradition of Chinese massage
to give your body a nice relaxed feel. With Dr. Lily, located right
in the heart of Yangshuo, you have found the best to experience
a traditional Chinese massage.
Dr. Lily is trained in Nanning and has a diploma in
Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM).
Dr. Lily speaks excellent English, has a good sense of humor and
has worked in several hospitals (Yangshuo, Baisha, Guilin). And in
case you need hospital service, Dr. Lily will be able to
help you in advising and she could help you as a translator.
What does Dr. Lily provides?
Most people visit Dr. Lily to enjoy a full body massage or foot massage.
Being trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine (what
is it? read more here), Dr. Lily is able to make a diagnose based on the
principles of the ancient traditions of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In September 2008 I was in Yangshuo and had several foot massages because of an
injury on my right ankle. Dr. Lily was able to heal the ankle with massage
("no pain no gain" was her motto... hmmm, but it did work very well)
and Chinese medicine. But she offers
more:
Physical Diagnosis
Dr Lily Li uses the traditional way to diagnose your condition. She will look
at your tongue (especially any coating), eyes, face, skin and nails …
- ask you questions as appropriate
- and feel your pulse
- before making her prognosis. The results are often a surprise to the
patient.
推拿 Therapeutic Massage
Dr Lily Li’s clinic offers two types of Therapeutic Body Massage (Tui Na).
Tui Na can be used to treat specific injuries and is especially effective for
those in the neck and low back.
The second form of Tui Na uses manipulation of special points to restore
balance to the body’s Yin and Yang. This will increase your overall energy
levels, which is wonderful part way through a long trip.
Special herbal oils or fresh herbs, with secret ingredients to heal the body
or aid the balance between Yin and Yang, enhance the effects of the massage and
leave you with an excellent feeling afterwards.
With training, it is possible to massage yourself. Special massages can be
used to keep yourself healthy. The focus can be on a specific body part such as
the eyes or stomach, or used to control overall nerves and stress.
保健按摩 Relaxation
Massage
Compared with Tui Na, this form of massage is more suitable after a long
trip.
Dr Lily Li uses special herbal oils or fresh herbs to give a massage that
will leave you feeling just great.
足疗 Foot Reflexology
Massage is applied to specific areas of the feet, corresponding with organs
in the body. The pressure applied draws down Qi (energy) and Xue (blood)
clearing blockages and restoring normal function.
Those with poor circulation report considerable benefit from this therapeutic
massage.

火罐 Hot-cupping
The power of suction is used to draw Qi (energy) to specific areas on the
surface of the body and to remove toxins.
This technique is most often applied to treat poor circulation but is also
effective against adverse effects of Wind-Cold and certain other conditions
including persistent coughs, gastro-intestinal disorders, fatigue and paralysis.
You should be aware that Hot-cupping produces red marks on the skin. These
fade after a few days.

刮痧 Scraping
Any edge can be used to scrape the skin. Traditionally, the rim of a small
horn is used to scrape along meridian lines to break up stagnation, regulate
organs and expel pathogens.
Scraping has been found to be beneficial for those with fever or vomiting,
and some believe that it can work against some forms of cancer.
针灸 Acupuncture
According to ancient theory, acupuncture allows Qi (energy) to flow from
areas of excess to areas of deficiency thereby restoring balance.
Dr. Lily Li inserts high quality silver needles (always new for each session)
into acu-points to get Qi (energy) and Xue (Blood) flowing, and to relieve pain.
Acupuncture can be used to treat a whole range of common ailments including
circulatory disorders, emotional and psychological disorders and addictions.
Acupuncture is not painful and is safe. Just let us know if you have a
pacemaker or tend to bleed/bruise easily.
