Taxi to Yangshuo and Guilin

Although there are buses in between Yangshuo and Guilin, A taxi to Yangshuo or Guilin could be preferable. Especially when you have a flight from Guilin International Airport.

Our getting there page explains in detail how you travel to and from Yangshuo. There are plenty of buses in between Yangshuo and Guilin. Although these buses are cheap (Y15 per person), it can take quite a bit of time to travel in between Yangshuo and Guilin, not to mention the endless stops and lack of space, especially for taller people like me.

So, what is the alternative?

Taxi to Guilin

The 66 km ride from Guilin to Yangshuo can easily be done by taxi and it is remarkable cheap. You have to prepare yourself for some hackling but that is normal in China. Expect to pay about Y130-160 for the journey which will take about an hour.

All taxies take the old and most direct road from Yangshuo to Guilin (or vice versa), road 321 which is for the most a 4 lane road. Especially if you come from Guilin, it's worth to take a taxi. You will pass the junction to Yangdi, Putao town and Baishe.

The closer you come to Yangshuo, the more spectacular the scenery will become. From a taxi, obviously you will have more options to enjoy the scenery.

If you have a late flight or train into Guilin (check our train to Guilin page) and you don't want to waste your time in Guilin city, a taxi might be your only option. Buses do make the journey between the two towns but in the evening they will go less frequent.

In the evening the taxi might be more expensive too.

Taxi to the airport

If you stay in Guilin, you can use the free airport bus. Ask in your hotel to call the service and the bus will pick you up.

If you have an early flight or train out of Guilin you will want to consider a taxi anyway. Especially if you have a morning flight, a taxi is almost your only option. A bus from Yangshuo to Guilin and from there a bus (airport bus) to the airport can easily cost you 2 to 2 and a half hours.

A ride to and from the airport takes around 1 hour and takes partly the new highway. It is possible to do the whole ride on the highway though this is certainly not necessary (and it cost more too). The time profit is minimal.
