Rice Cake production in PudiRice cake is a snack usually made for special occasions. You can not get them anywhere in China. However, if you are lucky, you can see the local ladies making them and you are able to taste them.
When Jessie showed me Pudi village I was explained how these rice cakes are made. Usually these rice cakes are made for special occasions, like festivals etc. The rice cakes are based on grinded sticky rice. The dough is usually made with a machine. Further ingredients are brown sugar in boiled water and deep fried grinded peanuts. This all is mixed and put in a mall. The mall contains the double luck character to bring fortune a good luck to the one who eats. There are 3 different kinds of rice cakes:
The first two include the peanut mix. The third, with Sesame past is sweet of taste. At last the the snack is put on a pomelo leave and steamed of deep fried. The process is quite simple though time consuming. Not for nothing when rice cakes are required, a group of women produce them.
