Peng Shulin Miracle Man from China

The smiles says it all
Peng Shulin survived against all the odds when his body was cut in two by a lorry in 1995. To me, it is amazing he has the will to lived with only half of his upper half body. For over a decade bedridden, Peng Shulin astounded medical
history .
Peng Shulin survived the smash with having skin grafting from his face onto his torso. The smash had twenty medics trying to save his life but still left Peng Shulin bedridden.
Twenty medics battled to save Mr Peng's life after the smash, grafting skin from his face onto his torso. Despite his miraculous recovery, however, the amputee
was left bedridden until late last year, when Mr Peng started to work on his upper body strength in order to carry out simple tasks such as washing his face
and cleaning his teeth.
Doctors at the China Rehabilitation Research Center in Beijing devised an eggcup-like device using RGO legs. Now this 2'6" fighter is back on his feet
again. They created a sophiscated egg cup like casing to support his body with 2 bionic legs to help him walk.
RGO is a recipicating gait orthosis, attached to a prosthetic socket/bucket. There is a cable that attaches to both legs so that when one goes forward, the other goes backwards. Rock to the side, add a bit of a twist and the leg with out the weight on it advances while the other one stays still - a highly
inefficent way of ambulation, but oh so satisfying to 'walk' again!
It was little short of a medical miracle that he lived. Now Peng Shulin has astounded doctors by learning to walk again. The smiles says it all.
Peng Shulin inspires me to appreciate my life more. Life is so short to complain about nitty gritty things. Having no legs, no butts and all, can you imagine how
he would want to live.
I salute what he stands for, WAY TO GO! Mr Peng Shulin.
We stand humbled by you.
