Green Lotus Hotel - 5 Star Hotel in Yangshuo

The Green Lotus Hotel in Yangshuo is one of the few 5 star hotels in Yangshuo. With 333 rooms it is also one of the biggest hotels. And for that reason we can not ignore mentioning it.

Despite a 5 star hotel, we keep receiving messages from people including from Jessie Lu, our tour guide and operator who spend here her wedding day, that the service is far from 5 star. If you want to read why we doubt the service, jump directly to what the Green Lotus offers for service. But lets start at the beginning.

The location of the hotel couldn't be better too. Halfway between the famous West Street, and Yangshuo Town center and the Liu Sanjie Lightshow.

At first sight it might be not the nicest corner of Yangshuo but the views from the rooms are spectacular. The rooms including president suite, 15 deluxe river view suites, 6 executive deluxe suites, 20 executive business suites, 2 duplex suites and 290 standard rooms. More than 80% of the hotel's rooms are river view rooms

Many rooms have balcony and views over the Li river. In front you will see the local fishing boats and ferries which have arrived in the morning with the spectacular limestone mountains in the back.

The lobby of the Green Lotus Hotel is quite impressive. The large hall with its ceiling drawings of the typical Yangshuo - Guilin landscape is made to impress you immediately.

Once checked in, elevators and escalators bring you to your room.

There are special facilities for wheelchairs so senior and handicapped people are welcome in the Green Lotus Hotel.

Facilities

One of the spectacular facilities is of course the swimming pool of 380 sq.m. In fact there are two pools, a pool for little children and a deeper pool to 1.5 meter deep. The pool, obviously, is not open in winter.

There is a Chinese cuisine, Garden restaurant and a  bar. Of course the Green Lotus Hotel offer 24 hours service.

Additional facilities include a beauty salon, laundry service, fitness area and parking place.

All rooms have wireless internet facility, mini bar and widescreen TV. Deluxe rooms and more expensive rooms have bathtub and separate power shower.

Business facilities

The Green Lotus Hotel is not only a great hotel for travelers, the hotel has also excellent facilities for businesses people. There is a large meeting hall for about 450 people. The room is suitable for parties and meetings and performances.

There are 4 cozy smaller meeting rooms for meetings up to 30 to 50 people. Sound system and slide projectors are available for all 4 meeting rooms.

At the ground floor there is a business center with computers and internet access.

The Green Lotus Hotel Service

It seems a bit strange but contrary to the 5 star hotel rooms, the service is at many fronts low, almost non existing.

Help with luggage
Reports come to us from visitors claiming there is no help with suitcases on arrival. In other words, you have to carry your own luggage to the room.

Room Service.
One customer tells the story about room service taking a full 18 minutes to arrive and on arrival at the door, the customer was told he would be better off eating outside the hotel!

Door keys
Jessie Lu's wedding day on October 30 was a big party. Jessie tells about the staff who were not able to open the door to her wedding suite and it took them 15 minutes to find the keys.

We have been discussing if we should keep the Green Lotus Hotel on our website. We decided to keep it with these warnings. The hotel is the only 5 star hotel in Yangshuo town but we feel you are better off with some of the other hotels we recommend.
