Adventures in Yangshuo

by Sally & Stephen
(Cambridge, UK)

In Sept 08 we joined Jessie for the 4 day tour including a visit to her village and meal with parents. We had an absolutely wonderful time and would recommend the tour to others.

As a tour guide, Jessie organises everything in the background and leaves you to enjoy the attractions without following you around. This enables you to feel like an independent traveller but without the logistical or language barriers.

The highlight of the tour was visiting Jessie's village and having lunch with her parents and we would strongly recommend you include this as part of your tour.

In total we traveled to Guilin/Yangshuo, Xi'an and Beijing and it is only really in Guilin/Yangshuo that we felt we saw the untouched real rural China and it was the highlight of our holiday. Obviously not speaking the language meant having Jessie was essential and we would strongly recommend you get a tour guide such as Jessie.

Longi & Yangzhou 6 day tour
by: Anita

My family and I, a total of 11 people, organized a private tour to Quilin with Jessie as our guide. Jessie was indeed a friendly, efficient and well organized person. She took us around to amazing places and most important of all away from all the crowd, so we were able to see the best and most natural sceneries of all the places we had visited. Jessie is indeed the best guide we have had of all our private tours in China. Thank you Jessie! We all had a wonderful time and memories of Quilin!

Pudi
by: Peter

Jessie's hometown is indeed worth a visit. I was there a few weeks back, did the same thing as you did. One thing that amazed me was that the village, although only 22 km from Yangshuo is so far away from the "civilized world".

According to Jessie, it takes 3 buses from Yangshuo and an additional 20 minutes walk to reach the village. Isn't it amazing that in 2008 a village can be in distance so close to the modern world but in ways of transport almost as far as the moon, well... I am exaggerating but you understand what I mean...

I too recommend anyone who does a tour with Jessie to include a visit to her hometown, it's a fascinating experience. And for those who want to see what kind of village Pudi, Jessie's hometown is, Jessie wrote about the temple festival in Pudi:
