Acupuncture is a very old healing technique that originates in China, some 5000 years ago. Archeologists found proof in Inner Mongolia of stone acupuncture needles dated 3000 BC. More obvious evident comes from much later, around 2000 years ago.

However, the origins of acupuncture origins in China are unclear. The earliest Chinese medical text that first describes acupuncture is the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine (History of Acupuncture) Huangdi Neijing, which was compiled around 305–204 B.C. However, the Chinese medical texts (Ma-wang-tui graves, 68 BC) do not mention acupuncture so it might not be a widespread technique at the time.

It is beyond the scope of our website to dig too deep in the specific techniques of acupuncture. However, there are some specific problems that acupuncture can help solving.

Acupuncture on arthritis

Acupuncture improves movement for patients suffering from arthritis. This can be arthritis of the knee, hip, shoulder, hand or back. It can help both rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA) conditions, the treatments control the painful symptoms as well and balance the immune system. Most patients see immediate results after only a few treatments and have positive long-term benefits in combination with Chinese formulas and regular exercise. acupuncture in yangshuo

Acupuncture on the lower back pain

Acupuncture procedures on lower back pain is straightforward and acupuncture helps lower back pain very much, combined with Chinese herbs. In fact, Studies have shown that acupuncture can even re-establish normal health in the lower back. For cases arising out of simple overexertion, strain or knotted muscles, acupuncture has the ability to increases blood flow to the afflicted areas, and relaxes the muscles, eases pain and relieves inflammation. Even arthritic joints that are affected by muscle spasms can be effectively treated.

Acupuncture and headaches

Research has shown that acupuncture and Chinese herbs are a very effective treatment for tension headaches, especially headaches coming from the neck. A report published in June 2003 of Medical Acupuncture, doctors found that acupuncture resulted in the resolution or reduction in the frequency and severity of cluster headaches, and a decrease or discontinuation of medications. Acupuncture can be used as relief from cluster headaches. Researchers found that, compared with standard medical care, acupuncture offers substantial benefits in preventing headaches and improving the quality of life for people who suffer from frequent headaches, especially migraines.
