Hi
It's almost April and I apologize for the long waiting for this newsletter.
Wintertime in Yangshuo is usually slow. Last year at this time I was in Yangshuo
and it was freezing, around 5C, too cold for me (I'm living nowadays in Malaysia
with nice tropical temperatures). However, our new season has started. When I
write this newsletter to you, it's 15C, still cool but with clear weather like
today it is an excellent temperature to be active, get a bicycle, go hiking up
to the TV tower or get a raft.
Jessie informed me she has changed her Longsheng tour, so I will later
explain a little what we have changed. For the cyclist reading this newsletter,
I have some updated info about the roads in Guizhou (Thanks Brigitte & Ivo).
Meanwhile I have decided to go to Yangshuo in August, so we might meet there. It
is always a pleasure to be in Yangshuo.
What is the content of our Yangshuo Newsletter? Here we go!

5 days Longsheng/Yangshuo Tour
====================================
We have changed some details in our 5 days package Ping An rice terraces and
Yangshuo (tour 2). The reason was that we found our previous tour not totally
fitting in what YOU wanted. So, we changed a few details to make your journey
even more memorable. If you consider coming to Yangshuo, this (of all our tours)
is the one I prefer the most because you get the most out of Yangshuo and
Longsheng.

Cycling to Guilin
====================================
Things change quickly in China. Brigitte & Ivo cycled a by recommended route
through south Guizhou. Here's their comment about the area around Libo and the
possibilities to either go south (I did this when the road was build and trust
me, it was horrible) or going north to Zhaoxing, Sangjiang and Longsheng.
"If you don't want to cycle over Libo to Guilin as you described because you
want to visit the Dong wind and rain bridges, there is a direct side road
between Dushan and Sandu. The road is asphalted so you don't have to make the
big loop over Libo. Libo is now the gateway to the South China Karst Unesco
world heritage site (and that's probably the reason why they were preparing for
tourism as you passed there).
From Guilin to Yangshuo: You know that there is an old road running along the
Lii River? You have to combine your ride with some bamboo raft parts. A
wonderful stretch and probably nobody knows it. There are also some brand new
completely traffic free concrete roads back to Guilin witch leads you through a
breathtaking limestone scenery. We will put the road description and GPS Track
on our web site in a few days and send you the link. Xingping and the youth
hostel there is still a wonderful place."
So far Brigitte & Ivo
In case you want to cycle east of the Li River, there is another road easy to do
(and seldom done). This road leaves Guilin and follows all the way to Xingping
without the need to cross the river. This road is mostly a pothole road but good
for cycling. There's no public transport to my knowledge on this road.

Moonhill
====================================
There are plans to place a gate around Moonhill and charge entry for the area.
Entry fee should be Y80 and be effective from May on! If you do a tour with us,
the ticket will be included in our tours but for individual travelers... you
want to see it, you have to dig quite a bit in your wallet.

Tai Chi Yangshuo
====================================
Over the last year and a half we recommended Luo Mei Juan as the best place for
your Tai Chi course in Yangshuo. Mei has informed us she is relocating to the
USA. The school will continue but at a different location, We have not yet
decided who we will recommend for your tai chi courses but we invite you to give
us recommendations if you have good experiences with other teachers.
