==================================== Halloween Special ====================================
Halloween, we thought we do something with it too. As you know we have build our
website with a system called Sitesell. You have the chance now to get this same
system with a special discount until October 31 midnight.
Why would you want it? To explain it would require a full length newsletter and
you might only get a glimpse of the power of the system. However the basics I
have written down for you:
==================================== Pudi Primary School ====================================
I ask again attention for the school in Pudi, the tiny village not far from Yangshuo. It's a village forgotten and
ignored by tourist and government alike. The villagers are mostly farmers who
grow rice and vegetables. They are mostly poor. Jessie Lu, our tour guide, comes
from Pudi and although she runs her business nowadays from Yangshuo, she has not
forgotten her hometown.
Several months ago, she started a small project to help the primary school in
Pudi village. The school has a need for almost everything including books,
writing materials. Even basic things like desks and chairs or a library are not
available. Recently the school received a gift from a lady in Hong Kong of
Y5000. The gift sounds like a lot but in reality it hardly was enough to get the
most basic materials in the school available. Much more is needed. Therefore we
need your help:
You can help by donating at our Paypal account. We will keep you informed how
the money is spend. In the second half of June I will visit Pudi and see for
myself and in the next newsletter I will inform you further.

West Street ====================================
West Street is a legend. There is no traveler in the last 25 years who came to
Yangshuo and did not visit West Street. What made West Street so legendary? I am
not quite sure. The first time I came it was mostly a street with local grocery,
meat and hardware shops and a few guest houses and cafe's. In time, the
guesthouses and cafe's became popular. Names as Lisa's and Drifters were the
places to hang out. Things have changed (although both Lisa's and Drifters are
still there).
West Street has developed into a main shopping street, similar (though not as
big and crazy) as Khao San Road in Bangkok. Personally I wouldn't want to stay
anymore in West Street but it is still worth to have a look.
From primary foreign tourists, Yangshuo and therefore West Street, has changed
into a primary Chinese tourist attraction. Was it that the Chinese came to
Yangshuo to experience the "Western" culture, nowadays, there are more local
tourists and Yangshuo seems to develop back into a tourist attraction for local
tourists. But West Street is West Street and nowadays even busier then ever.
With Airasia now flying to Guilin every other day, it makes it a lot more interesting for me, living in Malaysia to visit Yangshuo more often. And that is exactly what I am intended to do. Jessie, our guide and tour operator in Yangshuo makes sure I get a taxi picking me up at Guilin airport. But where would I stay? The variety of hotels in Yangshuo is enormous. Which one is good, which is one is not, and which one is top notch?
You ask me, I say it's the Snow Lion Resort in Mushan village, 15 minutes outside Yangshuo town center. William and Linda have build only a few years ago this suburb hotel near the Li river and Mushan village. With all respect for all other hotels, this is my Number One choice. Here's why:
==================================== Teaching in Yangshuo/China ====================================
Travelers are always looking for a way to increase their finances. Teaching is
since long a way to increase the content of your wallet. In Yangshuo there are
many schools in need for foreign teachers. If you are interested, please look at
this page for more information about the how, what and where...
==================================== Do you have a question about Yangshuo? ====================================
People have many questions, we try our best to generate the answers. The website tries to answer
all questions, but there are always things not mentioned. So here's your chance
to ask us what you need to know:
==================================== Sanjiang and Longsheng ====================================
The local villages of Longsheng and Sanjiang have become popular over the years
for travelers who would like to see a little more of rural China. Longsheng,
with the nearby village Ping An became popular for the spectacular rice
terraces. Some seem to think it's only interesting to visit Longsheng when the
rice fields are full. In fact, the scenery is the whole year around spectacular.
Even in November, after the harvest, Longsheng fantastic. And if you book one of
Jessie's tours, you will find some hidden gems in the surrounding.
Linda Liang offers excellent cooking classes in her Cloud 9 restaurant. If you
