Later on in March the temperature will rise slowly and in April you will find Yangshuo in it's prime. So it's time to look what you can do in Yangshuo and Guilin. In this issue of the Yangshuo News Ezine, I will give you a few less common ideas, which are certainly worth to sort out. After all, unknown makes unwanted but not uninteresting!

So what do we have in this Ezine?

  • Snow Lion Resort
  • Train schedules for Guilin and Nanning
  • Link to me, Link to you
  • Pudi
  • Liu Gong
  • Tioman island Malaysia - getaway for the whole family
  • Wild Asia's Valentine Gift of Life
  • Entrance tickets
  • Chinese cooking with tofu
  • Teaching in Yangshuo

Happy reading!

Snow Lion Resort
====================================

The Snow Lion Resort owners William and Linda informed us there are slight differences in prices for this year. Although the prices have changed, the service, of course, has only increased! The Snow Lion is still my favorite hotel in Yangshuo.

Train schedules for Guilin and Nanning
====================================

Due to several request we got in the last few weeks I have added two new pages with train schedules to and from Guilin and Nanning. The railway system in China is remarkable reliable, especially if you consider the distances some trains make. However, it's always possible trains have delays. When you book your ticket, check out at the counter if there is such a delay. Be always at least 30 minutes in advance at the station.

Link to me, Link to you!

====================================

Many webmasters are aware that links to their website increase the possibility of getting traffic and gaintrust by Search Engines as Google, Yahoo and Windows Live which are the prime search engines on the net. How to get good links? Lets start what does NOT work.

What does certainly not work is a link farm. Linking to websites with heaps of links on one page is not considered to be a good link. If I get those requests, I always skip them. Sorry folks. You can ask a webmaster to write a good article for your site. I asked Nazlina to do an article about traveling with children. As I don't have children, this was a solid content page for my site and Nazlina got her link to her site:

- http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/pangkor-vacation-with-children.html

At the same page you can see another example of an option for link exchanging. Miriam from http://www.china-family-adventure.com write a short introduction for her website which I put on Nazlina's page. In return Miriam gave me a link back to my bicycle website: http://www.china-family-adventure.com/xian-wall.html

These kind of links have a good value. Of course you can only do that with websites that have some relation with your site. But how to find good quality websites? I use Sitesell's Value Exchange. People who already own Sitesell know Value Exchange and it's benefits. Sign up now and start using Value Exchange. It's free and easy:

Pudi Village
====================================

Pudi is a little village at the banks of the Li river. It's seldom visited by tourists and for good reasons. Although it's only 20 km or so from Yangshuo, it's hard to get there. Two buses plus still 20 minutes walk or a long boat trip from either Yangshuo or Fuli are the only alternatives. But Pudi is worth a visit. Last year in August I visited the village which is for most still very traditional. Some of the houses are hundreds of years old . It's a highly recommended visit.

Should you book one of the tours with Jessie, you can include a visit to Pudi.

Liu Gong
====================================

Less difficult to reach is the village of Liu Gong. There gate and temple of Liu Gong are certainly worth the trip either to do by boat or bicycle. To do so, follow the instructions on this page:

Tioman island Malaysia - getaway for the whole family

====================================

Too cold to visit China? Come to Malaysia! Tioman island on the east coast is a long time favorites of travelers in Malaysia. Not for nothing. The diving facilities here are excellent. It's not too far from Singapore too, so if you have little time, Tioman is a good option if you stay there. And with everyday flights from several destinations from other Malaysian cities, Tioman is easy accessible. Several resorts have diving facilities, but you can go hiking in the mostly unspoiled jungle or get a canoe and go around the island.

At the moment Tioman is not the best place to visit as it is rainy season on the east coast. However, later in March the weather will change and Tioman will be again a magnificent holiday destination. Check out introduction to Tioman page:

Wild Asia's Valentine Gift of Life
====================================

Chocolates, teddy bears and roses have become passé gifts for Valentine's Day. This year, why not try something different and expand your love to include Mother Nature. Entrance tickets
====================================

Over the years in China I have visited many tourist sites. Some are well known, like the Potala in Lhasa or the Forbidden City in Beijing. Some are lesser known, like the Zigong Salt History Museum. But the Chinese give usually very nice entrance tickets out. Some of them I have made available through the following pages.

Chinese cooking with tofu
====================================

I was never a real tofu eater. Tofu has no taste. But what I didn't know, at the time was that tofu needs to be prepared. I simply had not the knowledge. Nowadays I eat regular tofu and it's a good and very tasty dish. Here are some ideas what you can do with tofu the Chinese way.

Teaching in Yangshuo
====================================

Jeannie Hore informed of an error I made in the last e-zine. Jeannie is teaching at the Omeca school. If teaching is what you are looking for, the Omeca School is a good choice to teach. I did a few guest classes (if I can call them that way...) and it was good fun. Typically the classes are small which gives you a great interaction with the students. And students come from all over China.
