Yangshuo News, Issue #008 -- Cormorant fishing, Nanning, Yangshuop Map and more December 01, 2008 |
| Hi It's December and already cool in Yangshuo. December is off season in Yangshuo. The good part is that it is quiet, the bad part... it's cool to very cold. But the weather is clear and it should not hold you back from exploring the surrounding areas. Even in the off season there is plenty to do in Yangshuo. Sure, swimming in the Li River or the Yu Long River are not possible but the other options are almost all available. For next year we are planning to offer you a few complete new tours, further announcements will be made in the coming weeks, Jessie, our tour guide and operator is at the moment busy organizing. So what does the Yangshuo E-zine offer you this time?

----------------------------------------- ==================================== No time to come to Yangshuo? Too cold to coem in December? Why not make yourself happy with abooks and DVD's showing the beauty of Guilin and Yangshuo: http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/yangshuo-books.html ==================================== It's Kumquats or cumquats time. You have not heard of these fruits which local name is Jinju? It's a typical late autumn kind of fruit. Kumquats are eaten mostly raw. The rind is sweet, the center is a bit sour and juicy. If you are in Yangshuo right at this moment, try them, they're good. Here is more about the fruits in Yangshuo http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/yangshuo-fruit.html ==================================== One of thelong term attractions in Yangshuo is Cormorant fishing in Yangshuo We have been digging deep in our photo archives and found a good series of photos, we hope you like them: http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/cormorant-fishing.html ==================================== Not many travelers go purposely to Nanning. It's not a tourist destination in its own right. The travelers who do come here are the ones traveling to and from Vietnam. Although Nanning is not very spectacular it is a convenient stop for a few days. There's some things to see in the area and the hotels are good and decent priced. Check it out: http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/nanning.html http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/hotels-in-nanning.html ==================================== Some people know how much I appreciate Sitesell, the system I am using to build my websites. It makes my money with writing websites about subjects I really enjoy. How much better this life is then to be a slave of a company! Sitesell is the product of a genius: Ken Evoy, one of the leaders in internet marketing. Want to meet him? No problem. Ken has a set of videos about what Sitesell is. Check it out: http://videotour.sitesell.com/webselling64290.html Another option is to read some in the forums of Sitesell. The forums are for Sitesell owners and affiliates only but I give you the option to check it out with a username and password so you can get a glimpse of the SBI community. Don't be surprised when you browse through the forum (no you can't commend) to see a lot of posts of Ken Evoy. How many presidents of multi million dollar companies spend time in forums of their own products? Username: pulau-pangkor.com and password: pulau-pangkor.com Have fun! ==================================== Few countries are more relaxed then Laos. The best way to travel here is by bicycle. I know, I am biased, I love cycling. But if there is one country where you make very easy contact with the locals it's Laos. And especially on the countryside itcan be an amazing experience. Here's more about Laos http://www.bicycle-adventures.com/cycling-in-laos.html ==================================== It took a while but I have finally got a good map of Yangshuo Town center. I hope you find it useful: http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/map-of-yangshuo.html ==================================== Some people can't have a meal without meat. I don't have that. It can sometimes be a little difficult to find good vegetarian food in China but the food is usually very good. Janice Hoo gives away all her secrets of vegetarian Chinese cooking. Happy cooking and enjoy your meal! http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/janice ==================================== Some people would call me pushy but I have to keep telling you, the Snow Lion Resort is simply the nicest hotel in Yangshuo. See for yourself what William and Linda have created: http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/snow-lion-resort.html The Snow Lion is open all winter. Make sure you make your booking for Christmas and New Year because it will be busy. ==================================== Jeannie Hore informed of an error I made in the last e-zine. Jeannie is teaching at the Omeca school. If teaching is what you are looking for, the Omeca School is a good choice. I did a few guest classes (if I can call them that way...) and it was good fun. Typically the classes are small which gives you a great interaction with the students. And students come from all over China. Interested in teaching in Yangshuo?
