Welcome back to our Yangshuo News  E-zine. I know it took a while before the new edition of the ezine was ready. It had a lot to do with my recent visit to Yangshuo. I was only 3 weeks in Yangshuo but I collected more info then I possibly can offer in this newsletter. Snow Lion Resort

With Airasia now flying to Guilin every other day, it makes it a lot more interesting for me, living in Malaysia to visit Yangshuo more often. And that is exactly what I am intended to do. Jessie, our guide and tour operator in Yangshuo makes sure I get a taxi picking me up at Guilin airport. But where would I stay? The variety of hotels in Yangshuo is enormous. Which one is good, which is one is not, and which one is top notch?

You'd ask me, I say it's the Snow Lion Resort in Mushan village, 15 minutes outside Yangshuo town center. William and Linda have build only a few years ago this suburb hotel near the Li river and Mushan village. With all respect for all other hotels, this is my Number One choice. Here's why:

Cooking Class in Cloud 9
====================================

Some people will never learn to cook, others are masters by nature. My mom was one of those who never learned to cook proper. She cooked basic and that was fine. But more sophisticated dishes... no way. My mom would have loved to do a cooking class with Linda in Cloud 9 because Linda is one of those real cooking masters.

Linda and her staff have all the dishes of Cloud 9 available for the cooking class and they are easy to make. Even my mom, (yes even ME!) can do it. The location is suburb, on the roof of Cloud 9, with a view over the limestone mountains and eating your own dish in the classy restaurant you can't go wrong.

Adsense and the Yangshuo website

The Yangshuo website is based on building a business with solid content. But how do you earn money, is what some ask me. One way is Adsense. Adsense is an advertising tool from Google and it pays me well.

Why is Google so eager to pay me instead of me paying Google? The answer is in fact quite simple. Google needs websites with high targeted content to place ads about that subject. The better the content is focuses, the happier Google is. If you look around at the Yangshuo website you will find everywhere high targeted ads by Google. So the better you focus your content, the better Google ads you get.

What does it have to do with Sitesell? Everything! Adsense and Sitesell are like a Siamese twin. The Pangkor website is build based on the idea of building solid traffic with solid content. Timeshare

Timeshares afford vacationers the opportunity to visit their favorite vacation destination year after year without struggling to find appropriate accommodations. Tai Chi in Yangshuo
====================================

If you have traveled in China, you have seen many Chinese people practicing Tai Chi in the early morning or late afternoon. This ancient martial arts is still very much alive and you can learn it in Yangshuo from one of the few female Traditional Wushu Advanced Trainers in China and a multiple gold medal winner in various international contests, Luo Mei Juan. Mei owns a school just outside Yangshuo town center: Long Tou Shan Martial Arts School.

Located in a valley away from the tourist industry of Yangshuo you can learn and practice Tai Chi in all peace and tranquility.

Dr. Lily's famous cures with massage and acupuncture
====================================

Dr. Lily is one of the famous doctors in Yangshuo. She is educated in Nanning in traditional medicine and massage and has a great massage and acupuncture shop just behind West Street. When I was in Yangshuo (August 2008) I had a problem with my ankle, which Dr. Lily was able to cure with just massage and Chinese herbs. Her motto? "No pain no gain". It doesn't sound promising, but trust me, after each treatment I felt much better. Dr. Lily knows what she's doing.

Shopping in Yangshuo

Although Yangshuo has no shopping centers like in many big Chinese cities, it is still a good place to go out and shop. Paintings and accessories for painting like pencils and paint, clothes,  t-shirts, outdoor gear, handicrafts, chopsticks etc etc. are all for good prices for sale.

Please do shop around to get an idea about prices and bargain hard. And do not limit yourself to West Street only, other streets have sometimes the same deals for better prices. And sometimes it's worth to visit Xingping for even better deals, better quality and better prices (for example paintings)

The hotels page updated

Yes I know, it was time we did that. Our hotels page is now updated with more hotels and hostels in different price and quality ranges. We still recommend the Snow Lion Resort as our number 1 hotel but in Yangshuo town, the Magnolia Hotel is absolute the best choice. Think about it, if you can ride a bicycle in the Magnolia's best room, you have a bit of space...

Traveling to Yangshuo
====================================

It is expected that by the end of 2008 the express way from Guangzhou to Guilin will be opened. This makes the journey from Guangzhou (and Shenzhen) to Guilin with a junction at Gaotian (that section is ready) much faster then it is at the moment. We will keep you informed about the progress in this.
